Mellophone is an instrument shaped somewhat like a horn, in that it is formed in a circle. It has piston valves and is played with the right hand on the valves. These horns are generally considered better marching instruments than regular horns because their position is more stable on the mouth, they project better, and they weigh less. It is primarily used as the middle voice of drum and bugle corps.
Usually it is comes in Bb pitch along with F- pitch formed by the extra slide added to the horn .
It comes with a mouthpiece which makes the instrument more adjustable in terms of tuning . It resembles to somewhat like French horn
